In our culture illusion is predominantly associated with magicians. In psychotherapy, illusion commonaly occurs when a psychotherapist presumes to understand the meaning of a client's words. For example, a client may say. "I'm depressed." The therapist might assume that they understand what the word depressed means. It may mean that the person hand an argument with his boss or on the other extreme it may mean that the client is suicidal or homocidal.

This course is designed to teach the therapist how to use language. First we will give you a roadmap of how to elict the client's meaning of each word.
